Startup Errors for the GasAlertQuattro

This will just be an overview of some of the most common issues that you may experience when using the gas monitor. For a more thorough guide you can refer to page 35 of the owner’s manual. Still, let's have a brief look at a handful of issues and how they can be addressed.

The Detector Fails to Turn On

When the monitor fails to turn on, the most likely cause is dead batteries. The batteries may need to be charged if you have the rechargeable battery pack(QT-BAT-R01). If you have the alkaline battery pack (QT-BAT-A01), change out the batteries to be sure.

It is also possible that the monitor may be physically damaged. The PC Board (QT-PCB-K1) would be the next most likely problem if the monitor is failing to turn on after replacing batteries. If you need a repair like this, feel free to fill out a work order online and send the monitor in for repairs.

Automatic Deactivation

This is another issue where the most common cause is low battery power. Users can enable an option called Lock-Out on Self-Test Error that would cause the Quattro to shut down. If this happens, one or more of the sensors failed their self-test when the monitor was powering on. The most common reason a sensor fails the self-test is because it is no longer responding or usable and you will need to replace it with a new one. The list of Sensor Part Numbers can help you find the correct sensor to replace a dead one. The monitor could also have a calibration lock enabled which will shut it down automatically if the calibration is overdue. For that one, pass the error on the startup and calibrate the meter.

Immediate Alarm Activation

If an alarm sounds immediately upon sensor activation, there are several potential causes. The first may simply be a case of a low battery. Also, the sensor may need to self-stabilize. This is particularly the case with newly replaced sensors; they make take up to thirty minutes to do so. The third situation is that hazardous gases may be present in the environment. If this is suspected, leave the area immediately and return to a location with 20.9% oxygen. Once in fresh air, if the detector still fails to return to normal, it should be calibrated immediately.

No Self-Test

If the monitor does not run an automatic self-test when it starts up it likely has a circuit board problem. Send it in for service if the monitor does not do this multiple times. The second cause for a missing self-test is the presence of gas. Always calibrate the instrument if possible before trying anything else or ordering new parts.
